A Second Fight for Chaim’s Life

Chaim is 7. Before he turned five, he was diagnosed with medulloblastoma — an aggressive brain tumor — and after more than a year of chemotherapy and radiation, he beat it. This year, the cancer came back.

His doctors say he urgently needs advanced, highly precise treatment available at a specialist pediatric brain-tumor center in Memphis, Tennessee. His family must cover treatment, hospitalization, flights, and months of housing — and the hospital requires a significant deposit before treatment can begin.

Purpose Harbor is first a grantmaker: we fund the hospital funds, disease-specific foundations, and regional charities already standing beside these families. And where no partner covers a family's situation, we support them directly. One donation reaches families through both channels.

Direct Family Support

Where no partner organization covers a family's situation, they apply to us directly. We help cover treatment costs, travel to specialist centers, lodging near the hospital, and the household bills that don't pause when a child is ill.

Where does my donation actually go?

Donations fund two channels: grants to vetted partner nonprofits serving these families — our primary activity — and direct assistance paid on behalf of families (usually straight to hospitals, landlords, or vendors). We publish the actual split each year on our Financial Transparency page.

Do you only help children with cancer?

No. We support families facing any severe childhood illness — cancer, congenital heart defects, organ failure and transplant, rare genetic and metabolic disorders, and other catastrophic or chronic conditions.

My nonprofit serves these families. Can we apply for a grant?

Yes — that's the heart of our model. Hospital-based funds, disease-specific foundations, and regional charities can apply for partnership grants.
